Some Hampton University students say their “home by the sea” isn’t feeling much like home these days.

Students marched in silent protest Feb. 28 to voice their concerns for campus health and safety issues at the Virginia HBCU. This follows a heated university town hall Feb. 20 where students sounded off on health and safety concerns. That event sparked the #HUTownHall trending topic online.

The Feb. 28 silent march across campus ended at the university president’s house where students called on the administration to:

  • treat mold and mildew infested buildings;
  • serve sanitary food;
  • improve campus safety; and
