FREDERIKSTED, U.S. Virgin Islands —Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands is calling on fellow Americans to help with hurricane relief efforts in the american territory.
“It’s been a tremendous amount of devastation here in the Virgin Islands. First on St. Thomas and St. John with Hurricane Irma. And then on St. Croix with Hurricane Maria,” Rep. Plaskett told The Tribune during a Friday afternoon phone call from the Caribbean.
“We are the only place in the United States that have been hit by two category five hurricanes, and done so at a two week span,” said Plaskett. “Puerto Rico, Florida, Texas those were not category five when they hit.
