The NAACP is paying homage to the strength, power and resilience of African-Americans by embarking on the “Jamestown to Jamestown” pilgrimage. This partnership with Ghana marks the “Year of Return” – a landmark spiritual and birth-right journey inviting the Global African family, home and abroad, to commemorate the 400-year anniversary of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. On August 18, 2019 more than 250 participants embarked on this journey that started in Jamestown, Virginia and will end in the Jamestown district of Accra, Ghana. The Crisis Magazine’s Nicki Mayo captured highlights from the ceremony in Jamestown, Va.
