While 2021 felt like the hangover from 2020, it proved to be a prosperous year for my Nicki Mayo News LLC multimedia company. 

The EQUITY theme from 2020, continued in 2021. Clients this year included Black Women Unmuted, The Crisis Magazine (NAACP), Grounded Solutions Network, National Fair Housing Alliance, thinkLaw, TV One, The White Dress Project, Morgan State University School of Global Journalism and Communication and more.

“Black Panther: Tales of Wakanda” social media campaign. This weeklong project featured 18 Black authors including Nikki Giovanni, Tananarive Due, Linda D. Addison, Glenn Parris, Maurice Broaddus, Milton Davis and Jesse Holland.

Radio News Writing Boot Camp at WEAA 88.9 in Morgan State University’s School of Journalism and Global Communication. This interactive four hour workshop featured five instructors, each with a minimum of 20 years radio journalism experience. The veteran journalists worked with student journalists at one of the nations most prestigious HBCUs.

The PROTALKS series is an educational project of Montgomery Community Media’s department of education and community engagement.

I taught a six week online course that offered students a chance to practice producing a show by working on an MCM production.

Nicki Mayo sizzle reel. A snapshot of my reporting and subject matter expert work from 2010 – 2021. Honestly I use this for guest speaker events to not bore people with the obligatory reading of the biography. 


BONUS: I had a myomectomy in April 2021 to remove fibroids. Post-surgery I sat down to offer a very raw public service announcement about the importance of selecting the best doctor for your needs and avoiding forced sterilization.
